Tucked away in Southern Utah’s red rock country, Toquerville Falls is a stunning double waterfall that pours over sandstone ledges into natural swimming pools below. Located just outside the town of Toquerville, it’s a hidden gem for campers, road-trippers, and anyone seeking an off-the-beaten-path adventure near Zion National Park.

How To Get to Toquerville Falls

To reach Toquerville Falls, head north on I-15 from St. George or Hurricane toward Toquerville, then turn east onto Spring Drive for about 5.8 miles. At this point, the road quickly turns into a rugged dirt path.

The rough, rocky road stretches about 5 miles and can be treacherous after rain. There’s no marked Toquerville Falls trail. You can drive to Toquerville Falls, but only if you have a high-clearance, four-wheel-drive vehicle. Those without the right vehicle should park near the start of the path and hike in with caution.

Toquerville Falls Camping

Camping near Toquerville Falls is primitive but possible.

Toquerville Falls camping is primitive, but it is possible. While there are no designated campsites, dispersed camping is allowed in the surrounding BLM land. Campers should follow Leave No Trace principles, pack out all trash, and avoid building campfires during dry or restricted seasons.

If rugged camping isn’t your style, there are plenty of other options. For a more comfortable experience, you can stay near Zion National Park, where RV hookups, showers, and modern amenities make it easier to enjoy the outdoors, especially for families or long-haul road trippers.

Things To Do Near Toquerville Falls

Other than the falls, there are many things to do in Toquerville. After a dip in the cool waters, consider venturing out to hike nearby trails, visit ghost towns, or check out local viewpoints with panoramic desert scenery. Outdoor lovers can explore local hiking spots like the Babylon Arch or venture into the Kolob section of Zion National Park. Scenic drives along the Ash Creek and Gooseberry Mesa roads offer sweeping desert views.

Best Times to Visit Toquerville Falls

Timing your trip to Toquerville Falls can make a big difference in your overall experience. Spring and early summer are ideal for seeing the waterfalls at their fullest, thanks to snowmelt from the surrounding mountains. Fall is also a great time to visit, with cooler temperatures and fewer crowds. Summer visits are popular, but be aware of extreme heat and sudden monsoon storms that can make the dirt road impassable. Winter visits are possible but risky—mud, ice, and snow can quickly turn the route treacherous. Always check the weather and road conditions before heading out, and plan accordingly to stay safe and enjoy the scenery.
